Q.  What is the average square foot price of your homes?

A.  We do not have a set square footage price. The cost will depend on the style and features of the house and how difficult of a lot we are building on.


Q.  How do you charge for your services?

A.  We charge on a “cost plus” fee that is billed with each monthly draw request.


Q.  How long have you been building custom homes?

A.  Toulmin Homes has been building quality custom homes in Tuscaloosa for 13 years.


Q.  Can you work with the customer on financing?

A.  We have several local banks and lenders that we can recommend to our customers if they are not already working with a lender.


Q.  Who does your home designs?

A.  We work with Clem Burch, a home designer out of Birmingham, AL.


Q.  What type of windows do you use in your homes?

A.  We typically use clad windows by Kolbe & Kolbe.


Q.  Is there a difference in poured concrete basement walls and block walls?

A.  Yes, there is a significant difference and we use the concrete poured walls because they have more stability and protection against moisture.


Q.  What type of shingles do you use on your homes?

A.  We use a raised profile, 3 tab, 50 year shingle by CertainTEED.


Q.  Do you use solid or hollow core interior doors?

A.  Most of our customers prefer a solid core door, it is a matter of preference and pricing.


Q.  Who do you recommend for cabinetry?

A.  Toulmin Cabinetry is our full service cabinetry company that can work with you on design and cabinet selections. 


Q.  What type of molding do you use in your homes?

A.  We use all wood molding throughout the house for the crown and cove molding.
